Knox Memorial Central School served the town's residents until the merger of the Russell and Edwards school districts in 1986.
This building was a gift of Seymour Knox of Buffalo, NY, who was born and attended school in the Old Arsenal and taught school in district schools. The stained glass window at the top of the double stairway was a memorial to Mr. Knox's mother, Jane E. Knox
The merger of Knox Memorial School and Edwards Central School in 1986 brought an end of KMCS except for a strong Alumni Association to keep the memories alive.
